Uhde High Pressure Technologies has been working in the field of supercritical fluids since the early days. Over the past 25 years plants for various applications were engineered, designed built and brought into operation successfully. For many applications also the process development and the process design was accomplished by Uhde engineers.
The most widely applied fluid in supercritical fluid extraction is supercritical CO₂. This gas is used in the food industry (e.g. extraction of spices, decaffeination of coffee and tea) as well as in other industries. For very particular needs and special tasks e.g. the cleaning of wafers or the formulation of active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) CO₂ based processes and plants are operated in the semiconductor and the pharmaceuticals industry.
Accessing new fields and designing new processes as well as high pressure equipment features is the target of many development activities at Uhde High Pressure Technologies.
