The design of a production system depends on its specific application, process parameters (pressure, temperature, hold time), product type (solid, liquid, packaged, unpackaged) and capacity required.
In the standard layout, the vessels are installed horizontally, one side being the product inlet and the other side the product outlet. In this way, a mismatch of treated and untreated products is avoided and the system can easily be integrated into a typical food production line. The pressure is generated by an external pumping system which can be installed remote to the vessel. Materials and surface finishes are selected to fulfil the hygienic requirements of a food production environment. Special know-how is employed in the design and fabrication of the high pressure components in order to ensure safe and reliable operation at low maintenance cost.

As an option, the vessel can be equipped with a tempering jacket for optimum control of the initial temperature between -10 and 95 °C (14 to 203 °F) and the pressure medium can also be tempered via a heat exchanger to ensure homogeneous process conditions.

Example of an Uhde HPP-Production Plant:

Maximum pressure: 7,000 bar (101,500 psi); Initial process temperature: 10 to 95°C (14 to 203°F); Volume: 50 l
