For many areas of application, high-pressure technology can open up new technical and economic possibilities. Uhde's process engineers are in close contact with the producing industry and research institutes in order to test new ideas, to develop processes and to demonstrate the technical possibility and economic viability in feasibility studies.

Uhde manufactures tobacco expansion plants according to the Incom process developed by Reemtsma. This process reduces the density of tobacco by approx. 40 %. While retaining the full aroma, it is possible to achieve a substantial drop in nicotine and condensates. The process fluid is nitrogen, a non-toxic, tasteless gas.

Cryogenic temperatures and high pressures are required for rocket or satelite motor test equipment.
